The map is a landscape and tells us much about a place. Modena and Bologna are connected by the Via Emilia, the ancient roman road that runs at a 26-degree along the foothills of the Apennines; the main streets and the geometric fabric of cultivated fields run parallel and orthogonal to its route.

The colors used are those of the land, the trees, and the sky.
