studio FM milano has designed the new way-finding system and the extensive icon set for the new headquarters of the Italian pharmaceutical company Zambon. The new building, Z-LIFE, is situated inside the OpenZone Scientific Campus dedicated to wellness in the suburbs of Milano.The 2 stories building designed by Michele de Lucchi and completed by Carlo Ratti Associati for all the interior design, pushes the boundaries of biophilic design, featuring an innovative illumination system to bring natural light inside the building as well as hydroponically grown green areas.The new way-finding system has been designed to respond the need of an easy substitution of functions within the areas of the building. Using pill’s shaped signages secured to the ceiling with a green fabric belt, all the information is printed on a magnetic sheet taht can be easily removed and substituted. Even the wall signage have a hanging system that guarantees an easy substitution. The new icon set counts 40 different functions.
